The Road Ahead:

RLDatix’s Product Vision to Power Safer, Smarter Healthcare.

“ Healthcare is a people business first. Technology should never get in the way — it should quietly empower clinicians to do what they do best. ”

At the Connected Health and Care Summit APAC 2025, Barbara Staruk — RLDatix’s Chief Product Officer — delivered an inspiring keynote on the future of healthcare technology. Her message was clear: real transformation begins not with the system, but with the people it’s built for.

In a session packed with real-world examples, deep product insights, and a vision rooted in practical impact, Barbara outlined how RLDatix is evolving its solutions to create a safer, more connected future across healthcare.

A Unified Vision: Connecting Products, People, and Purpose

Barbara began by emphasising that these summits are more than events; they’re opportunities to listen.

She spoke candidly about the gaps in the current system: siloed platforms, disconnected insights, and a lack of true 360-degree understanding of patient and staff experience. RLDatix’s vision is to change that.

“We’re building a seamless user experience across our suite—from Riskman and DCIQ to Optima and PolicyStat—because ultimately, your staff shouldn't have to learn five systems to do one job.”

The roadmap focuses on:

User experience modernisation

A unified design language across platforms to simplify and standardise interactions

Data Platform Integration

Bringing together safety, workforce, and policy data for actionable insights

AI Enablement

Enhancing, not replacing, clinical workflows with intelligent support

Patient Experience

Expanding our focus beyond clinicians to include the full care continuum

Turning Data into Action

Barbara acknowledged the technical complexity and effort behind building the new RLDatix data platform—but also its game-changing potential.

“A data platform might sound boring. But when it shows you which ward has rising falls due to under-staffing? That’s powerful.”

From real-time heatmaps identifying incident trends, to dashboards linking workforce shortages to harm ratios, RLDatix’s new data tools help healthcare leaders not just respond—but anticipate.

Bridging Workforce and Safety

In one of the session’s most striking moments, Barbara unveiled RLDatix’s integrated Staffing & Safety Dashboards.

“This is data we’ve never had before—linking redeployment rates, rostered hour shortfalls, and safety incidents down to the ward level.”

These dashboards don’t just highlight where things go wrong. They identify where staffing challenges don’t lead to harm—offering insights into what makes certain teams resilient.

This empowers operational leaders to make smarter staffing decisions, reduce agency reliance, and ultimately, improve patient safety.

AI That Supports, Not Replaces

With clarity and care, Barbara addressed AI’s role in RLDatix’s product vision.

“We keep the human in the loop. AI isn’t here to replace clinicians—it’s here to take the load off so they can focus on care.”

Some highlights from the roadmap:

  • PolicyGen: RLDatix’s in-platform policy generator using large language models to create first-draft policies for review
  • Smart Entry: A new feature that uses AI to auto-fill incident reports based on narrative descriptions, flagging incomplete fields
  • AI-Assisted Investigation Triage: Models that suggest the level of investigation needed for reported incidents
  • Root Cause Trend Detection: AI identifies patterns in low-priority incidents or near misses that may otherwise be missed

Each solution is designed with empathy, speed, and safety in mind—never removing the need for clinical judgement but enhancing the ability to act on insights.

What’s Next? The Challenge of Sustainment

Barbara closed her talk by highlighting a challenge that no system has cracked: sustainment.

“We’ve changed policies. We’ve added checklists. But unless we can ensure long-term behaviour change, we’ll be solving the same problems next year.”

She challenged the industry—and her own product teams—to think about how technology can help ensure lessons stick. While this piece of the puzzle is still evolving, RLDatix’s commitment to solving it is unwavering.

Looking Ahead: A Safer, More Seamless Future

Barbara’s product vision is not just a roadmap—it’s a commitment.

A commitment to:

Human - centered design

Smarter systems

Empowered clinicians

Safer outcomes

“ We’re not here to make software. We’re here to make safety easier. ”

From workforce to risk, policies to patients—RLDatix is building a future where insights are instant, processes are painless, and safety is simply the way things are done.

But we’re not stopping there. As Barbara reminded us, the real challenge lies not just in detecting risks or drafting the perfect policy—but in sustaining improvement. Our roadmap is grounded in reality: clinicians under pressure, leaders navigating complexity, and patients counting on us to get it right.

With every feature, dashboard, and data point, RLDatix is working to close the loop—connecting people, process, and purpose across the entire continuum of care. Because at the end of the day, better systems mean better care. And that’s a future worth building.
